Account information: Name, email address, date of birth (for age verification), profile picture (if provided via Google sign-in).
Session data: Tutoring session transcripts (voice and text), session recordings, whiteboard content, uploaded documents, session summaries, and duration.
Usage data: Pages visited, features used, session frequency, voice/text minutes consumed, subscription plan, and payment history.
Technical data: IP address, browser type, device information, and cookies necessary for authentication.
We use your data to: provide and improve AI tutoring services; generate session summaries and progress reports; process payments and manage subscriptions; match students with human tutors; send session-related notifications and email summaries; analyze platform usage to improve the service; comply with legal obligations.

Each service has its own privacy policy. We recommend reviewing them. We share only the minimum data necessary with each service.
Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. Session transcripts and recordings are retained for 12 months after creation. Deleted accounts have their data removed within 30 days. Payment records are retained as required by law (typically 7 years).
You have the right to: access your personal data; correct inaccurate data; delete your account and associated data; export your session transcripts and summaries; opt out of non-essential communications. To exercise these rights, contact admin@getnovark.com.
If you are in the European Economic Area, you have additional rights under GDPR including: the right to data portability; the right to restrict processing; the right to object to processing; the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Our legal basis for processing is: consent (for optional features), contract performance (for providing the service), and legitimate interest (for analytics and service improvement).
Novark complies with COPPA. Children under 13 cannot create accounts directly. Parents can create accounts on behalf of children through the Parent Dashboard. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 13 without consent, we will delete it promptly.
We use industry-standard security measures including: encrypted data transmission (TLS/SSL); encrypted data storage; row-level security policies on our database; secure authentication via Clerk; regular security audits. However, no system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.
We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We use analytics cookies (Vercel Analytics) to understand how the platform is used. We do not use advertising cookies or sell data to advertisers.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes via email. The effective date at the top of this page indicates the latest revision.
